ABOUT

The Leicester Diabetes Centre, part of the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, presents the online version of the award winning DESMOND self-management diabetes education.

Bringing together the content and research evidence from our face-to-face programmes onto a portable interactive web-based platform to support you in managing your health.

Each programme available within the MyDESMOND platform has been founded on the NICE approved face-to-face DESMOND self-management education. This means you are getting the same quality but delivered at a pace and adjusted to suit your needs. These programmes includes short videos, articles and interactive activities on diet and lifestyle you can view as quickly, or as slowly as you like.

MyDESMOND is now listed on the NHS apps library. This was following a rigorous assessment to make sure that it is safe and secure to use. It is this assessment that helps build confidence in the digital support offered through MyDESMOND.

Currently the programmes available are:

  • Type 2 diabetes – this programme is suitable for anyone with a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes regardless whether you are newly diagnosed or have established diabetes
  • Let’s Prevent Diabetes – our programme for those who find themselves at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes
  • Babysteps – a programme designed specifically for women who had previously been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes

TESTIMONIALS

It’s been great to use and find out how other people with diabetes cope.

I hope others will find the help and advice from you as helpful as I have.

A tremendous help in helping me to go forward and lose that weight.

MyDesmond is the best Haynes manual of diabetes control that I’ve found so far.

The programme has encouraged me to keep going and not just with the exercise, it has encouraged me to knock my calories down.

All my answers have come from myDESMOND.
